Being confident is an integral part of both being in FBLA as well as the business world. Nobody wants a leader who does not have confidence, and without it, you will not be as effective in the workplace as well as your day-to-day life. Increasing your confidence may be a daunting task, but have no fear; Oregon FBLA is here to save the day with confidence tips!
Here are three things that you can do to increase your confidence:
- Fake it ‘til you make it!
- Be positive!
- Act like a superhero!
Confidence Tip #1: Fake it ‘til you make it!
This tip, as cliché as it may sound, is an integral part of building confidence. The secret is acting like you have confidence, carrying yourself in a manner that others cannot help but notice. If you believe that you are sure of yourself and your actions, then the people around you will believe that too.
Confidence Tip #2: Be Positive!
Another tip that may seem obvious, but is also a very important factor of being the most confident person you can be! If you are not constantly negative or critical of situations, you will be much happier and able to take challenges head on. This includes being positive yourself, as well as surrounding yourself with positivity. Having supportive friends, fun hobbies, and activities will make you much more positive than sitting around all day with no friends!
Confidence Tip #3: Act like a Superhero!
Last, but not least, a good way to increase your confidence in the short term is to literally act like a superhero! Studies have shown that holding a “superhero” pose with your chest puffed out and your hands on your hips before something important can increase your confidence during that activity. So the next time you are about to go in for your competitive event, take a few minutes to take a deep breath, and strike a heroic pose to inspire you before you talk!
