A Historic Day for Oregon FBLA Funding

Monday, September 16, 2013. This will forever be a date etched in Oregon FBLA’s history as Governor Kitzhaber signed House Bill 2912 and Senate Bill 498 into law. These two bills will provide much needed funding to our state’s Career and Technical Student Organizations and Career and Technical Education. The bills include a CTE Revitalization Grant designed to make a major improvement to CTE at the school, district, or regional level. The bills also provide CTSO Chapter Grants to support local CTSO expansion, advancement, and program quality.

Over the past six months your state officers, members, chapters, advisers, board members, alumni, and all supporters of FBLA and CTE have been working hard to get these bills passed. Oregon FBLA thanks everyone to emailed, phoned, and met with their state legislators. Our efforts to connect with legislators and share the importance of CTE and CTSOs made the difference.

Parker Snook, current National Western Region Vice President and Oregon FBLA’s Executive Vice President, was honored to represent Oregon FBLA at the Oregon State Capitol on September 16 for a historic day in our organization’s history. Parker was able to watch Governor Kitzhaber sign House Bill 2912 and Senate Bill 498 into law, granting the funds to Oregon CTSOs and Career and Technical Education.

Oregon FBLA extends a huge thank you to all members of the Oregon Legislature for passing these bills to improve the quality of our state’s future leaders. The organization also thanks all our supporters who took the time to make their voice heard. Your efforts will shape the future of Oregon FBLA for years to come!
